I trully felt that Voldemort gain the worst dialogues award in fandom. At least in HG/SS ship. Really.

"That senile old fool has disgraced Hogwarts once again by making this filthy Mudblood Head Girl. I plan to show Dumbledore my displeasure at his choice. Tomorrow is Christmas. The staff of Hogwarts will awake to see the mutilated corpse of this Mudblood donning Hogwarts' gates. I will personally owl her heart to the Headmaster, myself. They will soon learn that no Mudblood is safe from us. Not even in Hogwarts," Voldemort triumphantly stated.

Even evil people swore they are good, so there is no need to have this blatant maniac speech.

I'd met torturers (People who torture?) and they talk like normal people. You could even find them "nice" if you didn't know better.

The writing's utterly abysmal too. Any one who writes "..." X stated - needs to go back to school. The only word you need is "said".

Mind, I've seen loads of supposedly good fics where Snape talks like nothing human, too. Most of this can be prevented by a simple read aloud before posting.

Thanks. Though at 3000+ words, it's not exactly a ficlet. I've seen whole chapters at 700 words!

The thing that a lot of younger readers, and well, people in general like to forget is what is supposed to be the most horrific is the simple fact that Voldie is a human being. A human being simply being capable of such attrocities is really far more horrifying then any monster ever created out of the human imagination. We know it does happen. We call men monsters to deny their humanity when we are trying to convict them. After all, do we really want to recognize the capacity for evil within ourselves even if it is still a lesser capacity then the example of evil in front of us?

Yes, the devil you can see is no where near as dangerous as the one you don't. True evil is rarely so blatant as fictional evil is presented to be. We do ourselves a disservice by forgetting that.
