pandora_nervosa post asking about aesthetic education for young kids.
I start thinking in that for a while, and decided to post my thoughts here.

I do not homeschool, but I felt art and aesthetic education is important. I don't look for my kids to be artist (I will be happy if they are) but I want them to apretiate art. Is part of the Cultural capital I want them to inherit.

I want them to recognized styles and artist, but firstly I want them to enjoy art to be sorrounded by beauty.
Mostly I watch with them art books, adults ones and we play I spy, Spot the difference (For example a flower draw by different styles, Why are they different? color, traces, etc), Make up a story.
Also I have made card with pairs of pictures (Two of each) then turn it round and play "Memory" (DO you know that one?)
I tend to match things with arts, like topic proyect. Art/Music (A storm as art, a storm as a poem, a storm as music, sorm in a movie) If we read a book I tend to look for a famous picture in that line.
We visit exposition with paper and crayons, they are short visits. They choose a picture and "copy" it. The aim is not to make it the same but to play with the subject.
