It is possible to "censor" information in a library? Yes, in this case, I'd think the item wouldn't be cataloged. I don't think it would be destroyed, the Librarian or Archivist wouldn't go that far, but perhaps the item is placed in the box and left to languish. A researcher might find reference to it in a letter or book in another box, but there's no evidence of the item in the catalog. Then, perhaps it's overlooked several times, and then found, uncatalogued in an unrelated box.
