My daughter the sociologyst.
Talking during dinner, my little one express his desire to became a priest (catholic one)
- You can't marry then - says my daugther -as uncle Cristián, he isn't marry and is a priest.
- Well - I mummble to hubby - we will have another Pope by then, we could only hope (he only snort in response)
- No mum, the next Pope is actually being raised thinking priests can't be married - add my 8 yr old daughter- so when he became a Pope he won't make any change at all.
Sometime I wish I raised them with less critical thinking, isn't she too young for such an exceptical attitude?.

She's very likely right, although I can understand the pang one gets when one's children start noticing the world isn't made of fairy-tales and warm milk.

My heartstrings get pulled each time one of my babies says something grown-up.
I want to protect them from it, real life that is, for as long as possible.

My priest uncle had just call me, he had tell my daugther's comment to all his prioest friends, apparently she pulls a string there because they had a lot of fun laughing at that

And old discussion that one, thankfully I still had a lot of control of my kids enviorement (evil mum), tv and such. Her class is full of parents that think among the same line.
My sister in law, a very nice person, is the kind of mum that work 12 hours a day, and is full of guilty, she allows her 11 yrs old daughter EVERYTHING. She has dress as a little whore since ...well ever. The sad thing is that she is always freaking about pedophile, but he don't know where her daughter is and don't care the way she lives. (I'm not implying that victims of abuse is due to her clothes, but I felt is necessary to take care)
When this girl came home for the hollidays I settled firm rules, and this "Oh so gown up" girl, play as the child she really is with no problem.

They don't NEED to dress as adults...not for a long time. My eldest will be eight in 3 months. She is just starting to take an interest in fashion...but I will still exercise autonomy over her clothing. Until she can earn money to buy her own.
They wish they're grown up! Bless their hearts.
Then I watch them playing in the mud and climbing trees...and I find myself wishing I were a child again.
