Wow, that is kinda scary. The fissure in the lake bed suggests seismic activity rather than loss due to global warming. The whole of Chile is affected by a convergent tectonic plate boundary, although I get the feeling that an entire lake disappearing is out of the ordinary even in a place that has a lot of volcanic and seismic activity.
