A minute of fame
Apr. 14th, 2005 09:57 pmLecture was at 16:30 today, I end the dissertation at 14:30 dress up and flight to the center of santiago in records time.
They were 700 teachers in a gym, part of them known by me. I started reading to them Cavafis "Waiting for the Barbarians"
(http://www.mlahanas.de/Privat/Kavafis/barbarians.htm) and then start rambling in my topic.
It was...WOW, just wow.
I speak during a hole hour and then I recived a very close clap (?). The questions were interesting and shows that people understood what I tried to say, also there were the typical dummy questions but that is something to be expected.
Some people ask me where could they read my books (Wich ones?, I only have some text books for primary kids) ; another man - tears in his eyes - told me I move the foundations of his profesionals believe (I thought he ment in a good way) he asked me if I could give him my autograph (!), I was caught by surprise and I did it, I regret it now because is a silly thing, we are collegues. The publisher of little editorial house was very exited and give me his card and kept saying me I need to publish with them.
I still can't believe the reception of this paper.
