Please alow me to preen.

I arrived to this university in 2011 to be in charge of the education department. My team had no scientifc publications then. None. Zero.

Today we receive the campus publication stats from the last 4 years.

We are the team with more publications at this campus. We are better than the Vet department who has their own research center but less publications than we have.

We are far, far away from the stats of a big U but for us it is great. We are a very small team.

It is a great achivement: we went from 0 to 13 papers and there are 3 more waiting to be publish.

Yeah! We rock. I'm very proud of my team.

What I like the most is that I gave them the space to try new things; they took the oportunity I present them. They left their comfort zone in order to explore other posibilities. Every one of them has publish at least one paper.

Yeap, it is. My actual university is in a transition time. They have work more like a college, very focus on teaching with little recognition to research. In the last for years research has been more and more important for my university, but they are not in the "publish or perish" mode.
For me it is very important because I want to make a career as a researcher. I also want my team to become real schollars, for that they need to research and make their ideas circulate among the academic community.

I'm very proud of them. I just create a few conditions for them to work with a more wide vision.
They took the oportunity and start walking this path. I haven't asked them for impact numbers yet, only to publish at serious indexed journals. They have been more and more confident setting themselves more ambitious goals. I trusted them and it give fruits.
